A towed sonar fish sends ultrasound beams to both sides and converts echoes from the seabed and objects into a detailed digital image. The method is well suited for rapid searches over large areas and can help assess seabed character, hardness, and potential obstacles.
Service
Side Scan Sonar
Side scan sonar provides a fast and cost-effective overview of the seabed, subsea pipelines, wrecks, and other underwater objects. Ocean Discovery uses sonar to locate, position, and delimit targets before detailed ROV inspection, diving, or technical planning.
Efficient sonar survey of large areas
Multibeam side scan for channels and ports
For larger areas, high-resolution multibeam side scan sonar can maintain consistent data quality at higher survey speeds. This gives efficient mapping of channels, ports, and work areas where clients need clear map data, object positions, and decision support.
Deliverables for GIS, reports, and follow-up work
Collected data can be delivered as geo-referenced sonar plots, mosaics, KML/GIS files, and reports with object registers. The results are often used to prioritize ROV work, plan dredging, or document pipeline and cable corridors.
